Zimmerer, Malott and Herbst Claim Victory at Chaos in the Cornfield
The 2025 Funny Car Chaos Championship tour rolled into Iowa on May 23-25th to celebrate the 60th Anniversary of Eddyville Raceway Park at the 2nd Annual Twisted Shiferz and 360-Steel CHAOS in the Cornfield presented by Stanke Motorsports. This event is a special three day, double feature show also headlined by the DMP Awnings Nitro Chaos series. Twenty five outlaw funny cars strutted their stuff over Memorial Day weekend and Sunday's eliminations saw some wild racing from the FCC competitors in their quest for points, bragging rights and their share of the $33,000+ guaranteed purse.

In Wulff Pumps 'C' Field action, Justin Herbst and team "Executioner" found themselves in their second straight final round up against first time finalist and friendly rival Danny Mann in the "Pony Up" entry. After full eighth mile side by side burnouts, Herbst took the starting line advantage and never trailed with his best pass of the weekend, a 4.36 at 161 mph to Mann's 4.73 at 148 mph. Herbst is now sitting second in the current FCC points standings with his back to back final round appearances.

Two additional first time finalists came to the line in the AlkyDigger 'B' Field as Justin Malott's High Risk Performance tuned "Must Be Nice" entry prepared to face Lee Loveall in the "Giant Killer" Nova. Malott blasted off the line with the reaction time advantage and shortly after Loveall had problems and was forced to lift, giving him the best seat in the house to watch Malott and company take their first career FCC event win with a 4.19 at 180 mph. Malott's Ken Singleton tuned entry used consistency to claim their win with a 4.18, 4.19 and 4.19 in eliminations.

A powerhouse match-up of screwn blown alcohol burners came to life in the final round of the Rodak's Custom Coffee 'A' Field as the Will Hanna tuned "Penny Pincher 2.0" entry of Keith Zimmerer prepared for battle against defending series Champion Shayne Lawson and team "Man O' War" also tuned by Ken Singleton. Lawson took a slight starting line advantage and the cars were wide open and side by side at half-track. Towards the top end Zimmerer was making a move while the "Man O' War" machine made a steady drift to the centerline and collected the cones as Zimmerer took the win with a 3.71 at 203 mph.

Shayne Lawson will take a one point lead over Justin Herbst into the next points event, Cordova Dragway's Twisted Shifterz Summer Nationals, to be held June 13-14th in Illinois. We'll see you...at the CHAOS!

Lawson, Irwin, Cook & Simpson Take Texas Motorplex Victories
FINALLY the 2025 Funny Car Chaos Championship tour was able to kick off at the 5th Annual Spell Paving Services Funny Car Chaos Classic at the Texas Motorplex, presented by Vertex Roofers. Weather postponed the original date but that didn't stop the CHAOS teams from showing up in full force as the pits filled quickly with outlaw funny cars of all kinds from across the country for their shot at the first win of the new season. A massive thirty two car qualified field took the track under ideal weather conditions in Texas and the battle for round wins was on in the A-B-C-D fields of competition.

Pair by pair and round by round the upsets continued and excitement built leading into the final rounds. Todd Simpson was the first winner of the night in the Texas Motorplex 'D' Field as he wheeled Mitch King's "Bone Shaker" to the win with a 3.94 at 196 over Justin Herbst. Jade Cook and team "Nemesis" clinched the Wulff Pumps 'C' Field win at the starting line when Tony Arcuri went -.018 red and Cook's 4.08 at 173 mph took the win.

AlkyDigger 'B' Field action welcomed a thrilling pair as first time finalist Mike Irwin laid down an impressive 3.80 at 185 mph in the "Strange Behavior" nitro funny car to narrowly defeat Dave Hill's 3.91 at 186 mph. In the Rodak's Custom Coffee 'A' Field first time CHAOS participant Brian Lewis was forced to shutoff with a fuel leak which gave defending Funny Car Chaos series Champion Shayne Lawson a solo shot and his 3.75 at 199 mph would have been tough to beat as the Ken Singleton tuned "Man O' War" locked in their first win of the 2025 season.

Congratulations to all the winners of the season opener and we now set our eyes on the next stop on the Funny Car Chaos tour on May 23-25th in a three day CHAOS double down at Eddyville Raceway Park. Make your plans to join us at the Twisted Shifters & 360-Steel CHAOS IN THE CORNFIELD presented by Stanke Motorsports! We'll see you...at the CHAOS!

Lawson Clinches 2024 FCC Championship!
Van Hauen, Newkirk, Thomas and Cook Cash in at Mo-Kan Championship Finals
The Spell Paving Services Funny Car Chaos Championship Tour concluded its 2024 season at the Twisted Shifterz FCC Championship Finals at Mo-Kan Dragway on August 30-31st! A jam packed facility full of flopper hungry fans welcomed the stars of CHAOS for this epic season finale where the season Champion would be crowned at Mo-Kan for the first time. Coming into the weekend, five teams were in the hunt for the title and as the event unfolded the excitement and anticipation was overwhelming.

Friday night's qualifying sessions were rained out which shuffled a full day of ground pounding CHAOS action to Saturday. Two qualifiers were contested which also featured the Great 8 Shootout, which was eventually won by Shayne Lawson during the elimination rounds of the event. Some very interesting pairings were set as eliminations kicked off on Saturday evening under the watchful eyes of a capacity crowd. It came down to the results of the semi-final rounds of the 32 car main event before Shayne Lawson's "Man O' War II" team mathematically clinched the 2024 FCC Championship! Prior to that, Lawson had lined up during Q2 with Kirk Williams in the semi-final of the Great 8 Shootout, then was paired again with Williams for the opening round of eliminations. In both races, Williams lit the dreaded red bulb on the starting line and thus eliminated himself from a second FCC Championship.

Meanwhile, Lawson made his way  through the rounds and to the Rodak's Custom Coffee 'A' Field final and was looking to sweep the weekend as the Great 8 Shootout winner, 2024 Championship winner and Mo-Kan event winner, but was upset on a holeshot by Lance Van Hauen. Van Hauen and company ended their season on a high note with a big win in Missouri. Mike Newkirk and team "Silver Slipper" took their first career CHAOS win in the AlkyDigger 'B' Field win over a red-lighting Ronny Young in the "Blue Max". Wulff Pumps 'C' Field action was led by another first time winner in Colin Thomas and the "Twisted Sister" team who edged out Shane Blanton's "Joker". The 'D' Field found Jade Cook and team "Nemesis" using her best elapsed time of the weekend to nose out Michael Neal in the "Burnin' Love" Nova.

What a suspensful weekend filled with all sorts of twists and turns as the teams in title contention battled for every precious point they could earn. Heading into the semi-finals it was still a four team thrash to the top of the standings but only one can hoist the trophy at the end of the season. Congratulations to Shayne Lawson, tuner Ken Singelton and the rest of the Oklahoma based "Man O' War II" team on a hard fought effort and impressive 2024 Funny Car Chaos Championship!

Lawson, Jones & Hofmann Ace Albuquerque!
The Spell Paving Services Funny Car Chaos Championship Tour rolled into New Mexico's Albuquerque Dragway on July 26-27th to headline the track's 61st Anniversary celebration event! With just two events left in the 2024 season, this event would prove very important to the teams in the hunt for those precious points. Coming into the event, eight teams stood a fair shot at making a move to the top of the standings. 2022 Champion Kirk Williams wasted no time claiming points as he led the qualifying sheets after only two sessions were completed due to rain on Friday night.

Saturday welcomed pleasant weather and plenty of sunshine under the watchful eyes of a capacity crowd. Some fantastic racing was contested in the opening rounds of eliminations and in the Rodak's Custom Coffee 'A' Field hometown hero Lyle Greenberg met points hungry Shayne Lawson in the final. Greenberg had recently made track history as the first wheel driven car in the five second zone in the quarter mile and was looking to cap off what would have been a very memorable win, but troubles on the starting line caused the car to roll through the beams and he had the best seat in the house to watch Lawson's solid 3.88 at 195 mph winning pass. In the AlkyDigger 'B' Field, Brent Jones met Sheldon Lofgreen in the final round. Lofgreen suffered similar issues on the line as his twin turbocharged flopper bumped through the beams and Jones clicked off a 4.37 at 162 mph to take a memorable win for the team. The Wulff Pumps 'C' Field found Wayne Hofmann in a battle against first time round winner and finalist Michael Neal in a Connecticut versus Mississippi match up. Neal took a big starting line advantage but ran out of ponies as Hofmann's 4.47 at 161 mph took the win.

The points standings got a big shake up at Albuquerque and the teams in the hunt for the title will have to bring their best performances to the table at the Twisted Shifterz Funny Car Chaos Championship Finals at Mo-Kan Dragway on August 30-31st!

After a series of weather delays in the Funny Car Chaos season schedule, racing finally resumed at the historic and always exciting Cordova Dragway as the stars of CHAOS headlined the 2024 Summer Nationals presented by Twisted Shifterz & 360 Steel.
